Typocolate

Update: download the iPhone/iPad/Desktop wallpapers of the type designs here!

Along with the arrival of each holiday season here at Dynamo, comes the challenge of coming up with a new and original concept for the gift we send off to our friends, clients and collaborators. The idea is to show our appreciation for all of the fun stuff they let us get away with throughout the year, and hopefully spread a little holiday cheer while we're at it. It's also a chance to step outside of our digital comfort zone and experiment with unfamiliar mediums. This year, we conquered chocolate

Support Japan T-Shirt Now for Sale!

Posted March 31, 2011 by Jenna Holcombe

These Dynamo-designed Support Japan t-shirts are now available at Shop Dynamo. We expect them to sell like hotcakes so go go go!  After the Tohoku Earthquake in Japan on March 11, our close friend Miya Matsui (pictured above) approached us with the idea to create a t-shirt that could be sold to raise funds for all those suffering in her home country. Today we're proud to introduce the Help Fix It t-shirt. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross Japan, and in return for your charitable act, you get to rock this snazzy t-shirt. Read on for the full story and more images!

Design the Difference for War Child

Posted December 17, 2010 by Alex

'Tis the time for charity! Dynamo is extremely proud to unveil our latest online creation - a campaign site that aims to provide a little bit of online fun in the name of doing good. It's the Spring/War Child initiative called "Design the Difference," an online campaign (and addictive wallet design app!) designed to raise awareness for the work Spring is doing to raise money for War Child all across North America.

The key part of the site is the Wallet Designer, where you can design your own wallet. One winning entry will be chosen to actually be produced and sold in stores, with all proceeds going to War Child in 2011. It's been up for just a few days and we already have over 150 design submissions - get yours in now!

And don't forget to buy one of the celebrity-designed launch wallets - they're only $5 and the money goes to War Child as well.

A huge, huge, huge thank you goes out to our partners at We+Are Interactive for their help on the project - Robert, Aurélie and Pascal, we couldn't have done it without you guys.

Designing a Logo for Spree Commerce

Posted June 08, 2010 by Jenna Holcombe

I'm always super stoked when a logo project lands in my lap. Dreaming up the identity for a cool brand is every design nerd's dream project. Just give me a blank sketchbook and a few hours and I'll easily sum up the entire essence of your brand in one clever, inevitable icon of Nike swooshiness-caliber! Wrong. A day or two into the process we designers quickly remember that as usual, we're in for bumpy ride. A rush job (like pretty much every design job— let's be serious), the Spree logo came at us fast and we took it on head first. Today, we are proud to present our fresh-out-of-the-oven brand identity for Spree Commerce, finished just in time for the launch of their new website. Read more on our logo-design process.

ALDO's Cast of Characters

Posted June 02, 2010 by Alex

Around the office, I am known as the 'Sharp Dressed Man.' Now thanks to our latest project for ALDO, I officially hold that title online as well.

A few weeks ago we released the latest campaign microsite called ALDO Cast of Characters. The concept was relatively simple: allow visitors to create 'casts' of their Facebook friends, assigning them each a role from ALDO's Spring/Summer campaign. The creativity and development required to pull it off, of course, was more complicated than it sounds.

Poster Design for The Indie Rock Poster Book

Posted May 07, 2010 by Jenna Holcombe

We were super excited to be invited to contribute a poster to Yellow Bird Project's latest creative, charity-driven project headed up by the one and only Andy J. Miller. As a follow up to the Indie Rock Coloring Book, Andy and YBP have joined forces again to create The Indie Rock Poster Book which will include 30 different posters by 30 different artists, designers and illustrators. Each poster will be an interpretation of an indie rock song of the artist's choice...

Fun With Stop-Animation + A Website Refresh for Jewish General Hospital

Posted August 10, 2009 by Jenna Holcombe

When the Jewish General Hospital asked us to make their online donations experience more user-friendly we decided to go the extra mile and refresh the look of the entire website as well, starting with our first foray into the world of stop-animation. Bob and I, armed with scissors, construction paper, and a lot of patience, got to feel like kids again for the day as we shaped and maneuvered our cut-paper design into a dancing, quirky call to action...

Penson Financial's
New Campaign Platform

Posted March 15, 2009 by Bob

Penson is a recognized national B2B financial services provider offering clearing (trading execution) to banks and independents in the financial industry. Penson called upon Dynamo to design a new strategic offensive to increase market share and expand clientele. Upon reviewing the competitive landscape and narrow demographic, we decided a strong media push (print campaign) in conjunction with a call to action driving viewers to a complimentary microsite would serve them best.
